    KLAW Cable Emergency Release Coupling using a high tensile cable as a release control system.

    This method employs the collar type release. This system cuts the pressure and stress that may be applied to the media transfer system. The Cable Emergency Release Coupling is made to be installed between a fixed rigid point and a hose string. The cable is linked to the Cable ERC and the end of the hose string.

    The Release Cable starts when the hose string has a force applied. The joined cable then releases at the breakload setting. This release method prepares a safe activation and caps the risk of related strains on the transfer system. Risk to operators is also reduced.

    The KLAW Marine Breakaway Coupling (Marine BAC) protects assets, personnel and the environment during offshore transfer operations.

    The KLAW Marine BAC provides an identified and safe parting point within the hose transfer system. When tensile forces exceed predetermined tolerances, the KLAW Marine BAC activates.

    The KLAW Marine BAC therefore delivers two distinct safety features.

    * Closure of media flow: then;

    * Allowing separation of the hose transfer system.

    Separation relieves stress on the hose transfer system and minimises risk of damage and spillage.

    Instantaneous closure

    Spill on activation is minimised by instantaneous closure of the Flip-Flap Valve mechanism.

    The typical response closure time is between 0.2 and 0.5 seconds. (Dependent on pressure, flow and media density.)

    Delivering 100% closure and shut-off of upstream and downstream flow.

    Minimum headloss

    The KLAW Flip-Flip Valve design delivers minimum headloss when in the open position, compared with other valve designs.

    Available in both Industrial and Marine versions, these KLAW Couplings can be installed between a flexible hose string or fixed to a rigid point.

    Non-Closure Couplings are specifically designed to incorporate an identifiable safe parting point within the transfer system.

    KLAW recommends this type of coupling only where the medium (product) in non-hazardous and media spillage is acceptable.

    Is the coupling hygienic?

    As is standard for the industry, this coupling, although clean for service, are not specifically hygienic.

    KLAW is able to offer hygienic polished couplings complete with no “Bug Traps” to ensure they comply with industry standards set down by the FDA.

    These hygienic couplings have seen recent increase in demand within the agricultural market where the media is not hazardous but the equipment is a valuable asset to protect.

    When will the coupling activate?

    KLAW has both Industrial and Marine models to ensure a required activation can be achieved in accordance with the users desired operating conditions.

    Activation with KLAW Industrial Non-Closure couplings is generated through the Axial force being applied, where as with the KLAW Marine Non-Closure couplings activation is generated through a linear pull.

    Alternatively, activation will occur through a flow pressure surge beyond the predetermined breaking force.

    Housing material

    Swivel Joint housing material will vary according to model type and application. KLAW Swivel housing materials can be summarised as: stainless steel, carbon steel, Super Austenitic Stainless Steel, aluminium, Duplex, Super Duplex, Medium carbon steel and non-standard materials according to specification.
